Step by step guide for newbie requested

hi,
Can I have a sample script and steps for converting an mp3 file to flv format using rich media server? The user will be uploading an mp3 file. I need to stream the converted flv file from a location in my webserver. So where do I put the file for conversion and what scripts and parameters do I use to convert the file and how do I put the converted file back to my webserver?

Because of the wide range of functionality in MediaRich and in the A/ViKit, and the many different uses to which that functionality can be put, there are no tutorial materials available. However, we can give you some general guidelines and we will do so after we point out something that directly affects your request: support for reading audio-only files is not yet implemented in MediaRich 3.8.4. You should contact your company's Equilibrium account representative to check the status of this capability. Once that capability is in the product...currently slated for MediaRich version 3.8.5...the procedure will be just like processing any other audio/video object.

For now, you can use source files containing both video and audio data to put together a proof-of-concept. Also, please note that reading or writing of some formats requires a 3rd-party QuickTime codec.

First, if you don't already have one, get a MediaRich license from your company's Equilibrium account representative that turns ON the A/ViKit capability.

When you have received your license, you will be given a link to download the Audio/Video iKit Documentation and Examples. Download them, and then install them per the instructions you'll find inside the folder. If you already have your A/V iKit-enabled license, you will find the links in the email to which the license was attached.

Review the MediaRich AV iKit Guide.pdf and the example MediaScripts. If you have not already done so, you should also familiarize yourself with the MediaRich Universal Server Programmer’s Guide and the MediaRich Universal Server 3.8 Installation and Administration Guide: both are required reading for creating solutions with MediaRich.

Run some of the A/V iKit's MediaScripts, noting the comments in the MediaScripts and changing the settings to match your requirements. You can use the most appropriate example as a template for the construction of a MediaScript that fits your needs.

If you need Equilibrium to construct your MediaScripts and delivery system, please contact your company's Equilibrium account representative to discuss costs.

The default location of source images and video files is in the ..\Shared\Originals\Media folder, but it can be any place that's fully accessible to the MediaRich server by using the program's Virtual File System capabilities. For more details on either, please see the MediaRich Universal Server 3.8 Installation and Administration Guide.

Following the above steps should answer your remaining questions, but if any remain, the MediaRich Universal Server Programmer’s Guide or the Admin Guide should provide the answers.
